which would be better . sr security engineer vmware ( Sr. MTS L4) $150k + 18k + 25k ( Base,Stock,Bonus) signon 20k Microsoft ( redmond) Security Analyst ii $135k + 20k + 13.5k ,singon 20k ,L61, both offers yet to negotiate. verbal now. totsl YOE 10yrs
I would imagine there will be a growing amount of opportunity (and money) at VMware as carbon Black's security tech would be a new arena for them to build out
Anyone can you suggest something
What is up with those fucking names??
Same trend as Palantir's product names lmao. Upper level boomer managers in security etc. were comic book nerds back in the days
Is security analyst SWE? Trying not to be biased, but vmw pays more than msft across the board. You can def negotiate more stocks from both parties.
CB in Hillsboro. Pay and work environment will be better, and CB innovation opportunity is just kicking off here so you'd have a lot more influence than on another MS team
Isn't senior MTS l5?
VMware counter offered 170k + 23.75k(stock) + 29k bonus + 20k signs-on = 222.75 TC Microsoft yet to counter
As a Cb/ VMware employee currently, the tech Cb has is more advanced than MSFT and as a smaller company that can be more dynamic and focused in the security area you can have a more direct impact. On the other hand, MSFT is investing substantially more money into security so they can compete in the field which may allow the opportunity to work on more aspects of tools that are being built
Would it be insane for me to think that the 150k (Portland) & 135k (Redmond) offers were same when you take into account state taxes. So take home salary at month end is same as per ADP calculator. But now that VMware bumped the offer hope msft does too.
Hillsboro .Carbon black has small office here.
