I have offers from both Amazon and VMware, even though the total compensation in vmware is almost 100k less, I’m hesitant about AWS given all the bad rep about WLB. Putting money aside which company would you go with? This is for a Staff/Sr frontend role.
Make it a poll and add the break up of the numbers and TC
Share offer numbers if you are really looking for folks to answer.
I was stuck in the same situation last year so i used Amazon's offer to make VMware compete with their numbers and now i probably have the high end of MTS-2 pay band.
Avoid vmware
OP, how much do you value WLB? VMware generally has better WLB than AWS based on what I have read on Blind. AWS also has PIP and stack ranking which leads to a cutthroat culture whereas VMware has a more collaborative culture.
For WLB vmware scores over most companies
If your priority is WLB, VMW beats AWS hands down. Vmware cloud is one of the best teams and as they are having tons of attrition, try to negotiate with Vmware with AWS offer. Even if they give 50K more, VMW is better. But depending on the team, AWS may have better learning opportunities.
Use AWS's offer to pressure VMware to increase your TC. They can match it, just negotiate. I joined AWS 18 months ago and leaving now. Culture is bad here. I recommend you avoid AWS. You can consider joining AWS for a year then go somewhere else leveraging your AWS income in negotiating offers.

Why does leetcode get so much hate?
Go to AWS, you can always come back to VMWare and ask them to match your tc
Just out of curiosity why do you suggest AWS ? What is your insight on VMWare Cloud :)?
If you ask around, 90 ppl out of 100 would recommend aws even though they have worst wlb. You can get into vmware anytime but the opportunity at aws doesn’t come daily.
