There’s too much secrecy behind the financials of firms to know who’s really killing it and who isn’t. That and the pay band at most trading firms is insanely insanely wide.
You can know generally how well your firm does on a year by year basis and you can know exactly how well your desk does, but for the whole picture where all streams of revenue are taken into consideration (MM, arb, retail order flow, etc etc) really only extremely senior people will know.
DRW probably had a better 2017 than the likes of JS and HRT but no one can know for sure, and most people wouldn’t think DRW is more “prestigious” than them.
As for basing speculation on talent, that’s kinda tough too because you have very talented people from firms with very strong historic performance taking management positions at mediocre trading businesses pretty often.

Edit: Golden Sachs, lmao
false negative = missed from selection
recall = % of truth being covered
precision = % of covered being true
This is helpful 😊
