Hi Blind Community,
I am a new grad graduating in 2022. I have offers from Amazon Berlin (Germany), Microsoft India and Flipkart India. Please help me choose.
Microsoft India- 13.22 L base + 1.32L bonus average case+ 5.62 Lakh stock per year + 2.5 first year joining bonus ~23 Lakh

Flipkart India- 18L base+ 1.8 bonus+ 1.25 ESOPs per year+ 3 L joining bonus in first year = 24 lakh
One downside of Flipkart is that if I leave within 2 years I need to give back 1st+2nd year. joining bonus= 6 lakh.

Amazon Berlin- 62,000 Euro base+ 14,000 euro joining bonus first year + 2000 Euro stock first year (Total stock grant is 36k Euro) + 7500 euro relocation bonus (no need for bills so as good as cash)= 85k Euro
Visa- EU Blue Card

Some other questions I would like to ask about Europe- If I join Amazon Berlin would it make it easier to switch to FB/ Google London, Uber Amsterdam etc when compared to applying from India? And if I wish to come back to India after 2 years will I not be lowballed?

Under normal circumstances MS would have been the best choice but a foreign offer with that much money is simply not ignorable though WLB at Amazon is shit, not mentioning the pip fear.

It would be wise to opt for Amazon, Berlin unless you have some obligations to remain in our beloved India.

This shouldn't be a poll for general audience.

If you want to stay in India (food, dating, close friends, family etc), join Msft.
If you to explore and/or maximize savings, join Amazon Berlin.

Dating isn't super hard but also not as easy as blr imo.

For career opportunities, I would say amazon Berlin is clearly superior.
I'm getting recruiter contacts from top companies including top hedge funds which weren't replying a year ago lol and and I'm not even looking for a change.

Wlb clearly depends on team but is like 5-6 hrs as someone mentioned in most of the teams I'm aware of.
For sure, there is pip thing but it takes them more than 6 months after starting the process which are good enough to find a new job in Berlin or elsewhere and process is not easy for them to go through because of German labor laws.

However, there is a probation period of 6 months where they can let you go in a week's notice and I personally know people who were let go so better be careful initially.

      Hi,
Thanks for such a detailed response.
Just want to ask how is the Food scene in berlin. That's the only thing that is bothering me.
I guess Amazon does not have food in office.. so do you guys make it at your apartment for all 3 meals? Are Indian vegetables spices etc available?
I do eat non veg once in a while but I am not sure I will be able to get used to eating thier varieties all the time (especially because it's so bland)
Also how is Europe from a long term perspective? I have always heard that the salaries are less at higher levels compared to India (due to cost of living). So I was planning on joining Amazon explore Europe and leaving in 1-2 years, move back to India unless I get Google/ FB / Apple London. But if you could tell how it is from a long term perspective that would be helpful.

I used to cook initially when I moved and liked it. Now, I'm ordering/eating from outside atleast one meal per day on an avg. I'm a vegetarian and Berlin is one of the best city in terms of being vegan/vegeterian friendly in Europe.

There are a lot of Indian stores and Indian restaurants and you can find almost everything. By lot I mean, in every other corner you will see an Indian restaurant.

Salary thing is true if we see recent Indian market like paying 60LPA for 3 yoe types. But Europe is also getting there and salaries are increasing quite a lot. For eg. the new grad package that you're getting is ~15% more than what was offered during pandemic.

For long term, you'll have a lot of options in EU as well as London. Like Fb starts hiring for Remote EU positions, Twitter, Snap, Square were already and work quality in MnCs is better than India and also prob savings in INR.

If you want to be in startup scene, imo blr is way btr than EU in terms of options as well as salaries.

Yes exactly. All companies revised their TC this year... Except Microsoft and Google. Microsoft is literally falling behind startups now. They should focus on quality not quantity.

I regret leaving Germany without exploring Europe (covid times). Life is good up there esp for singles. I used to save 2K-2.5K per month (75K Base) after all drinks, food, movies, rent (main factor) expenses. Guess Amazon Berlin is best choice if not MS India if you want to be here.
My blue card is expiring today. Lol.
