I am based in Seattle and Seattle seems to have very few big companies. Pre iPOs such as Airbnb has very small presence and earlier stage startups such as Robhinhood has none.

I am single in early 30s and considering a move to Bay Area. I can negotiate a 15% increase to adjust for CoL. TC: $360k ish.

What are the pros and cons of Bay Area?

It’s expensive, commutes are terrible, if you’re a single, straight guy then dating is less desirable. Otherwise it’s normally always sunny, lots of outdoor activities, you can be cool in a Prius...the pay?

I grew up in the bay and honestly the only thing I miss about the bay is the weather. The sun is great and I don't really like how overcast Seattle is in the winter. Otherwise, Seattle has much better cost of living, public transportation, and you don't need to travel too far to go somewhere fun. The commute is also super reasonable and I can still live somewhere affordable and nice. Another thing I like is that the apartments and buildings in Seattle are a lot newer and nicer too

I feel you op. I do find that a lot of the mid size startups are opening satellite offices here though like square, stripe, Airbnb etc. There's also local startups like convoy and OfferUp that are cool as well. But if you want smaller startups yeah then the bay is the best place to be

Weather wise I think Seattle is better from April to October, particularly June to August.
