They need respect your privacy and law.

Reached out by recruiter from Wayfair.
Were told need to go through a video interview.
Surprised to find that their interview provider do recordings for the whole interview time.

"All technical interviews are recorded and accessible to the hiring team."

Not a good sign. What else companies do recordings?
I knew Scale AI use another platform do recording, so I asked them not.

update:
I don't trust small brands unless its big. Real time video communication are sufficient for technical assessment. Do recordings seems redundant. Call on everyone to boycott recordings companies and ask them to respect your privacy. I will quit their interview if companies do not provide other options other than recording dependent.

      I don't trust small brands unless its big. Real time video communication is sufficient for such assess. No need to do recordings. I will quit their Staff interview if the company do not have other options.

    L4 (senior engineer) TC is 350k+.
    L5 (staff engineer) TC is 550k+.
    L6 (principal engineer) TC is 800k+.

      levels.fyi shows L4 is their staff level, average 10 years experience, earning 300k - 420 k. No data points for 550k+.

      Recently retitled folks to be inline with FAANG.

      L4 was staff, now senior.
      L5 was senior staff, now staff.
      L6 was principal, still principal.

      There’s only a handful of ICs at L5+, take a look at management paybands.

    Recording candidates is impersonal and creepy. Why should this company have recorded access to someone answering questions. It’s one-way like a mirror in a police station. Naw.

    I wish some companies record their interviews. Some of the interviewers have very visible bias (by race, nation, color). There is no way for companies to notice this. Some advantages of this : sometimes people of your own race discriminate against you. This is mostly never thought in interview trainings/discussed. But recordings will help companies identify biases. Also it would prevent interviewers with biases to give wrong reviews knowing that they are on camera. This is in an ideal world but companies wont do this because they fear they can be taken to court.

      That is possible. If both party have control over videos, things become simple. Either can delete will be optimal. However, above video platform is only accessible to Hiring team.
