There's a WFH vs WFW debate (usually 75% vs 25% according to every blind poll).

Why is it a debate? We have an opportunity to change nothing (continue WFH) and help stop this insane consumption of fuel killing ourselves and our planet.

The discussion should end right there.

Hey big bosses -- now's your chance

You act like everyone has a position that they can do 100% remote. Some of us have to go in person. Period. No escaping it. Don't underestimate how many people that can be. We're not fighting against other WFH people, we may just be saying, "My job requires I go in person. "

I am required to be physically on-site. It is part of my job and the duties I have accepted in my SDE role.

If the world only generates X amount of solar, why use it for a useless activity like commuting? Once everything is on renewable energy, then yes, we should mine bitcoin, commute etc. Until then, spending any kind of energy on useless activities is thoroughly unimpressive.

Solar energy or any other so called renewable energy is also not that clean. You can do some research and see documentaries which show the impact of these and even electric car on environment.
Reducing power consumption is the only good option we should be aiming for

The excuses just don’t stop. A person who never gave much thought to the environment now uses that as an excuse to WFH. Just get your lazy ass back to the office.

If you're so concerned about the environment, you'll be interested to know that remote work likely increases driving on average:

Surely you'll change your mind and advocate for returning to office now, right? Or were you grasping at misguided environmental claims to support your personal preference?
