How is the work life balance for an analyst at Two Sigma? Do you get to do 9-5? Use vacation days? Sick days?
2sig is actually pretty big and analyst is pretty vague.
Pretty sure it is 15 days of PTO! If you are VP or being here for more than 5 years, you will get 20 days of PTO. My hour is 10-5 but it depends on the team and how productive you are. I would compare TS with Google. Pretty chill and not a lot of stress.
Wait this differs so far from top comment
it really depends on the teams, there are teams that play board games or poker every day and OP might be on one of them
Pretty good WLB. 9-5 on most weekdays. 20 PTO. Best thing: all market close on weekends. So never need to support or on-call or fix things on weekends ( for most teams).
Do software engineers get to transition to a quant role ? Or at least work closely on trading models ?
It’s possible but very uncommon for software engineers to transition to a core quant/modeler role. The skills needed are totally different. Yes. Some teams work closely with modelers as key partners.

14-hour days are typical. We get 10 vacation days, and sick days are subtracted from salary. If you take more than 7 sick days in a year, you will get fired. Beatings are rather commonplace, and injuries sustained during beating by management aren't covered by insurance. We pray for the sweet release of death daily.
But seriously....
Rlly 14hrs?
