I have come across a few threads on Blind where people have commented that although Microsoft has overall pretty good WLB, but it may not be as good in Azure. Is the same true for MCIO? Trying to understand if working hours are decent and if there is any night/weekend work. I have an offer for a Sr PM role in MCIO, so trying to gauge these “benefits”.
MCIO is a pretty damn broad org, which team? Are you wanting to be 100% wfh or a day or two a week once you're up to speed? The later shouldn't really be a problem, plenty of people do that, but be aware that the hallway conversation 2 mins after the conference call drops is where 40% of the meeting content is discussed and decisions reversed, so don't screw yourself there.
Thanks. Don’t want to name the team explicitly but it’s a supply chain planning function. I don’t plan on 100% wfh, just occasionally, and get your point. I am more concerned about WLB and the ability to maintain decent working hours and no night/weekend work.
MCIO is huge and growing. So will need to know specific team. But generally around me, WLB is great. WFH once in a while is perfectly accepted.
We are behind, all of our SC process is manual. We cant keep up with demand, so there is added stress there. If you aren’t coming over to work hard, don’t bother as you will not make it very far if you are not willing to put in whatever it takes to get it done. With that said, there is flexibility and autonomy to WFH or work non-traditional hours from time to time, especially because you will be stuck in meetings most of the day. Could also have meetings in the evening if you are dealing with MFG in Asia.
Well was on an MCIO team where hired a “Director” with no direct reports, after 9 months started “working remote” from home half way across the country in a tiny rural town. Different rules for different people i guess....but complete BS for those that actually go into office every day.
Not sure if this group is an exception, but for the other 90%, pm and wfh do not go in the same sentence. Unless you want a short career.
What about sde and wfh in the same sentence?
Nope. Every team I've been on has hated the people that wfh primarily.
