WLB vs TC

I have the prospect of moving to Google - waiting for details on an offer - but the thought of going from 21 to 15 days PTO is 🥺😳😩. My WLB at FB is great but my TC is shit. Would you take a bump in TC for less PTO/WLB? If so how much of a TC increase would it take for you? I know its a personal decision but curious how others think about it. TC 150 8 yoe

150k for 8 yoe? FB is known for bad wlb

I’m an anomaly in many ways

good wlb is very common here. like google, it varies by team.

It's very likely you could move to Google for higher TC and have good WLB. Google doesn't need to know how much you make now.

Non eng?

WLB over TC every time. For many years I only worked three weeks out of four because I worked overnight shifts. TC was about 55k and that was fine with me. Now I no longer have that WLB _and_ I have lower TC. I miss the WLB a lot more than I miss the extra money.

PTO is only a relatively small part of the WLB equation. The day-to-day is more important IMHO. How many paid holidays do you have?

15 days seem small, account for couple of "wfh" and it becomes 21:)

Facebook zxcvs Jan 14, 2020

We have weekly wfh here.

Everything I’ve heard is that WLB is on average better at Google although depends on the teams. My WLB at Google has been great - I work very hard at work but not excessive hours and don’t work much from home...

Why’s your Tc so low 🙄

Gender gap is real, don’t get me started

I agree, men are discriminated for diversity
