I have an offer from Niantic in Bellevue among couple others, but for a 95 engineer company with 6billion valuation it seems pretty exciting. What do people think?

Gaming companies usually don't have a strong engineering culture, and are usually run by people in the entertainment business, who aren't that smart, are very political, and are not very meritocratic either. No idea about Niantic specifically though.

  The one thing going for them is they are a google spin-off. Half of the company is still from Google, and the CEO was the dev manager for Google Earth and maps

I got an offer too but eventually decided to go to another company. I think Niantic is a pretty good bet.

If you can read Chinese, there is a Taiwanese girl who is Niantic’s first DS posting a lot about her work and company culture on the PTT bbs’ Pokémon board and other Chinese forums. If you cannot read Chinese, I bet there are some English translated version somewhere.
