Why is Google suffering but FB isn’t?

Both their revenue sources are ads. Yet Google is the only one that seems to be cutting down on hiring. FB on the other hand, is giving bonuses and EE to all its employees.

    Google is a trillion dollar company. Its stock is worth almost 6 times Facebook's. Even a 1% variance can result in a big loss/gain.

    Shareholders will be more inclined to act impulsively when that much is on the line.

    It's not surprising a bigger, more mature company will act more cautiously.

    I know few of people on LinkedIn who’s internship offers got revoked last week. I guess even facebook is hit, but not showing impact yet. Its will soon be on same path following Google

      Google has a ridiculously long hiring period - Add COVID 19 to the equation, they are going to hire even slower.....and have put in a hiring freeze for most roles. Google also rescinded some offers...

    FB is trying to build products fast, as engagement has increased drastically. They recently launched a gaming/streaming app and are trying to see the current situation as an opportunity. They know that ads will follow once the pandemic is over.

    Also I don't think any of these two are suffering. Uber, Bird, Lyft, Airbnb are
