In the MSFT channel there is a post about someone complaining about compensation.
Dude was promoted 4x from level 59(SDE 1) to 63(senior SDE) in 4.5 years. That’s pretty good, except he posted his W2 for the year which was only 149k.
Sounds impossible until you realize his on hire expired and the max stock range for SDEII is like 22k (11k target) over 5 years so he gets like no benefit from doing well. I think most companies screw over people with internal promos, but this is just insane for the second most valuable company in the world…
