Walmart labs interview tips for DS
I am being invited onsite for DS role at Walmart labs in San Bruno . Recruiter seems to be very cold and haven’t told me a lot about the team either. It is more related to search recommendation team. Any interview tips pointers? How much TC I can expect?
I can tell you that the team is focused on big data analytics of cousin based marriages and how that affects Walmart's bottom line
If you are from amazon, you are in automatically. Its just a formality. They poach ebay and amazon people.

There is no interview training. People ask whatever they want. Unfortunately that means inconsistent interview experience. In today's time it's hard to find good days scientists. If you were a ds at Amazon, you are in
Recruiters there are trash. Get the contact info of a manager.
Sorry for the experience op. I am not sure where they find these recruiters . Several times we have lost really awesome people because of these unprofessional recruiters. Do you know which team will you be interviewing with ? I disagree with the comments that if you are eBay or Amazon you are in. That may be true for other teams but in my team only your interview performance matters. Coming from good teams at eBay/ AMZ is definitely taken positively during screening.
Search recommendation oriented hbu
This might not be core search team at Walmart. Core search team is in Sunnyvale . There is a recommendation and personalization team in San Bruno. You might be interviewing with them . That said there are pretty decent people working on that team . You will learn a lot and be given larger scope if you have chops for it . Keep us posted what you decide
Search team in Walmart has lot of brilliant team players(I am not from search team), it is contemporary and as said earlier we don’t have uniformity in interviewing process, really sorry about that. Coming to TC, I don’t want to be very specific but one thing I can tell you, Walmart will give you best package to beat and it is true that Walmart is working out to match search, fulfillment, recommendations experience as that of amazon and there is lot of good work going on in these streams. I could be wrong but otherwise unlike amazon, you would receive stocks every year and joining stocks separately. You can bargain about 401k plan from day 1 instead of wait period of 1 yr.

What bring you to Walmart if you have an offer from A.? I am not judging you neither telling you tht you are wrong. Just wanted to know if you got different perspectives than some of my colleagues here as DS who either left Amazon or ditched Amazon offers.
