Walmart vs Cisco

I am currently working with Walmart and recently got an offer from Cisco L6 (tc is 28% higher) however I recently got a compensation increase (not by a lot about 2%~3%) i know it might be no brainer to take Cisco, but is Cisco a safe company? As in future growth, Walmart will always be here since they are a retailers. Also does Cisco have better benefits and Wlb than Walmart? Any input are much appropriated YOE:2 Current TC:88k New TC: 150k #walmart #walmartbonus #walmartsalary #cisco #ciscocareers #ciscolayoffs

Just updated my post , and yes both my career growth and company growth in general as in How is likely for Cisco to go bankrupt

Take Cisco if you couldn’t get any offers. Jump later after short break. Prepare well next time for bigger jump. Take Cisco !!!!

Walmart will always be there - not necessarily even if they aren’t going anywhere today and yes Cisco is safe in that sense. Market has a lot of confidence in Cisco as you can see in recent stock performance. Plan for 2-3 years at a time max and you should be good. Btw Cisco is never safe considering yearly/frequent/regular layoffs so you should look at the BU/Prod/Location to make a decision. Those details and TC/YOE/Grade would help people suggest if its safe or not in short term.

I see , yeah that makes since and yeah sorry just updates my post

It takes you a while to reach 150k in Walmart for sure with all the team politics and biased management. No harm in exploring Cisco imo

Walmart XIMk53 OP Dec 28, 2021

Yeah that’s what I was thinking as well, it just I really like my team and will try to leave peacefully so if I want come back hopefully it will be easier

Not sure about Walmart. But in general wlb in Cisco is better than average.

Walmart XIMk53 OP Dec 29, 2021

Okay that’s really good then , here it’s pretty average

Which BU at Cisco?

Walmart XIMk53 OP Dec 29, 2021

What is BU ?

Cisco gulugulu85 Dec 29, 2021

Business unit or in other words which group?

Cisco rLsW55 Dec 29, 2021

Collaboration BU wlb is awesome. But here in Cisco you won't get other perks like mobile phone, gym reimbursements but still it is ok. And WebEx is really awesome in recent years i think eventually old customer like Walmart will move back to WebEx. It is worth to consider software company since you are in Walmart (I feel they are just a IT wing to their retail business, i too have friends in Walmart and I am also holding an offer from Walmart. Heard that their process is not good). Cisco is defenitly a company to consider.

Walmart XIMk53 OP Dec 30, 2021

I don’t really use any of those perks lol , obly like gym and I pay it myself and tbh the pay increase will definitely cover all of those lol , Yeah I do want work for a Tech company and kinda want program something that people will use , I been doing some boring stuff here , so yeah it been decided I am taking Cisco

Take Cisco, stay 2-3 years (or 5 years at max) then go to a better place. This was my plan when I joined Cisco last year

Walmart XIMk53 OP Dec 30, 2021

Yeah that’s the plan here as well Cisco Is definitely a great start

Walmart ignorenot May 20, 2022

OP, how do you find Cisco compared to Walmart now? (Hope you switched)

Walmart XIMk53 OP May 20, 2022

I have made the switch and very glad I did !! Although the work load is definitely more than Walmart but I expected that especially with that pay , however I very very much enjoy it here
