Why dont you first try at mechanical engineering companies. The companies you have mentioned has very limited scope for mech. Get some experience then try

I have some mechanical friends, they said it’s tough to get a full time directly with the companies. So most of them start as a contractor and later get converted to fulltime. Michigan has a good number of companies.
