Remember the farm protests in India? That went on for a LONG time. Nobody used emergency powers to do anything bad to the protestors. They even rolled back the legislation. Canada, especially Trudeau, has no right to lecture other countries on democratic values. F$cking hypocrites.

    • Thats what the left cabal does. Media is owned by the left and thry know how to use it to the full extent. Modi was called fucking dictator, yet he has never done even 10% of what trudeau did in just a month.

I hated Modi for not going hard against those highway blocking fake farmers but now after seeing extremist Trudeau and his supporters I'm glad Modi did what he did

Apparently that act was used only during WW1 and WW2 and some terrorist problem in Quebec.

Was what the truckers did as bad as WW2?

Imagine if Macron did that every time the French protested on the street, or if Trump did it to all BLM protesters and all the people that donated to BLM. Or if Obama did that to the Occupy Wall Street folks.

What Trudeau did was cowardish. He should have cleared the protesters out without having it escalate into an economic/class war.
The guy is a man child / boob.

It is a revised version of the War Measures Act, so technically the new one has never been used. The previous one was used when the Deputy Premier of Quebec was kidnapped and murdered by the FLQ, and during the wars.

Ironically it was last used by Justin Trudeau's dad during the FLQ crisis. He used it to put soldiers on the streets. His dad was a bit tougher though. Here is what Pierre Trudeau said when he invoked it:

Pierre Trudeau: "Well there are a lot of bleeding hearts around who just don't like to see people with helmets and guns. All I can say is, go on and bleed. But it's more important to keep law and order in the society than to be worried about weak-kneed people who don't like the looks of a soldier"

And when a reporter then asked how far he would go with that:

      "Well, just watch me"

@meta yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. You have the right to assembly and a right to protest whatever the fuck you want and wherever you want. Your opinion doesn’t matter when there’s a rule of law.

If you think it’s okay for the government to take away your right to transact, without due process or civil liability then you deserve the loss of your freedom.

The idiot is the one who resorts to ad hominem.

9 months of riots from BLM, billions in damages, burning down cities, 20+ deaths. Way more damage from those, and politicians took a knee with them because they were leftist. Imagine the insane hypocrisy you have to believe to think honk honk is worse than this:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violence_and_controversies_during_the_George_Floyd_protests

Seriously, it's incredible the left haven't been crushed under their own hypocrisy. And I say this as a liberal... This new left is weird.

Sure, and they could have arrested those individuals and tried them in court.

Instead, Canada has asked every single financial system provider from banks to credit card companies to investment firms to crowdfunding platforms to crypto companies to insurance companies to:

      - freeze the accounts
      - of anyone directly or "indirectly" supporting the protests

All without due process or civil liability.

If that doesn’t bother us peasants, then we deserve what’s coming for us.
