Was always fascinated by luxury watches. So when i got promoted to L6 PM, bought a Omega Railmaster for myself and a Rolex Oyster perpetual for the wife. I chose the Railmaster because of its heritage- it was/is built to withstand strong magnetic fields and therefore was used (back in 50s to 70s) by railroad workers, engineers and scientists. And i am an engineer though i the strongest magnetic field i get exposed to is that of a magsafe iPhone charger. Also like the relatively understated looks of the watch so only I know what i am wearing.
The funny thing is, my coworkers and other friends in tech really dont know much about watches. Most of them think mechanical watches are all vintage and completely unaware that luxury watchmakers are still making beautiful and precise mechanical watches. Most of them don’t even like wearing watches beyond the Apple Watch.
So why is that?

Pretty sad considering there are so many great brands out there.
In general, I just don’t care which brands/types of clothes/watches/etc. people wear…. I feel many (all) of my coworkers would fit in this description.
