So I want to know if this has happened to anyone else at other companies? *employees expected to use personal phones without compensation, including for international phone calls *employees given computers 6-8 years old *employees flipped off by managers *employees being required to fly Spirit or equivalent (even Amazon allows you on Delta) *employees not being allowed to keep frequent flyer rewards, hotel points, etc *employees being asked to resign and if they not oblige being fired for cause (rationale they didn’t resign, feels like a ploy to avoid paying unemployment benefits, only seen it around me)
what the fuck
damn
Yikes
I interviewed for a job with 75% travel last year. I thought it'd be worth sacrificing some time with my significant other and I could always use the miles to take is to Paris in the springtime or something. Looks like: NOPE
WHAT THE FUCK? You have to fly spirit? Frequent flyer miles is YOURS, how can they take that away from YOUR account?
Concur strips them out, IBM does the same thing I’ve been told
Woah - sounds pretty bad. Which org are you in? P. S. I didn't take cheapest flight (prefer direct on JetBlue or foreign carriers). I had my airplane miles and hotel points credited to my personal account without a problem. Also engineers get latest gen 15" MBP as standard fare.
Storefront. Engineering yes, I’m product and I’ve been blessed with an amazing i3. My manager told me I had to book the cheapest flight per policy. Sounds like your manager isn’t quite the same dick mine is. The fact the CEO and former CFO are listed as the people to ask questions of on the travel policy is a joke. And the per diem rates are substantially less than government. Hotel rates, wasn’t allowed at a Marriott or Hilton, so who cares.
Being "asked to resign" when a company is planning on firing you is done as a courtesy; it's a lot easier to explain in your next interview why you resigned than why you were terminated for cause. FWIW, the bit about them "not allowing" employees to keep their frequent flyer miles makes no sense at all; what do they do, make you donate them to charity?
Concur strips it out, books as an agent and the hotels won’t credit you with points. Laying someone off is the way to go, unless you’re too cheap to pay unemployment.
Next employer has no way to find out what was the reason for exit
🤦♂️ leetcode and get out.
