Weekend trip to Portland OR

I am thinking of driving with my parents to Portland OR. They are old so we can't ski. What are the things which I can do there?

Lots of good food. Breweries. Hike? (Might be too old) Drive to the coast. Super scenic there.

It's a boring place! Especially in winter.

What if I'm ready to drive a little more ... past Portland....

I’m curious to visit Black Butte OR (pronounced like “byoo-tay”), which is in Deschutes.

Drive to Multnomah falls and Columbia Gorge. Forest park which has a Rose garden and a Japanese Garden might be worth a visit.

Perhaps visit Cannon Beach too if you already go that direction. A bit longer drive, but the atmosphere there is nice. You may want to book a room there, go for one with an ocean view, your parents will love it 🙂 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannon_Beach,_Oregon

That sounds nice

Astoria has a great brewery too, Fort George and you’ll pass through it on your way to Canon Beach

Breweries, breweries, breweries. Some art/food/performers on weekends by the river (old China Town) and a massive and famous bookstore (Powell’s)

Food. Beer. Cocktails. That’s all Portland is good for. I recommend stopping in Ashland and detour through McMinnville to see the spruce goose.

Portland is akin to an asshole. It is dirty, it stinks, plugged up, and really just a place you wish you did not have to go. Better enjoyment to be had elsewhere. Leave it and head for the nearby forest and mountainous scenery.

OP take your parents to strip clubs. Portland is famous for them 😏. Well jokes side, feels you're Desi. So for Desi parents I can recommend Multnomah falls, in Portland, go to the gardens, take the aerial tram and may be try the donuts. Then you can go to Canon Beach or seaside Oregon. Visit Astoria on the way back.

It’s boring, especially during the rainy winter days. Go north to Vancouver, BC, Canada instead - it’s a much bigger and more beautiful city with tons of restaurants and exciting places to visit

Portland is amazing. The rose garden and the Holocaust memorial. The Powell's bookstore. Your parents might love to spend a day there and just read. There's a really nice restaurant called "maruti"- Indian vegan restaurant Drive to the coast.
