Hey So I talked with my Google Recruiter today. He has not submitted my packet to Hiring Committee. He said that the team that I had a Fit call with last week had a manager offer drop out and so they no longer have an open rec for an engineer, weird. He said he will be looking at other teams for me now and will try to reconnect 2-3 weeks Is it weird he hasn't submitted me to Hiring Committee? He said my feedback from the onsite was good in some places but in other places could have gone smoother. He also said my interview was kind of specific to the role, but he is trying to not get me to come back onsite again (this would be my second onsite this year) TC: 350K
You mean in 2019? Or did you really do two in 13 days?
yeah i had done one in 2019 like in april and then this one was in december
He is trying to help. Having a supportive manager may improve the chances of passing HC (check similar threads).
Req thing happens specially if the position is for a particular team. Exactly the same thing happened with me for Apple. I passed onsite then the req got cancelled. But my recruiter was helpful in routing me to another team with similar job requirements. I had to do another onsite with 2 rounds only. Then I got the offer.
Same is happening with me and amazon right now. It’s been a shitty experience tbqh. But the newer recruiter is actually doing fairly well connecting me internally to recruiters he knows in other groups to make sure I find a good fit. Oh well.
This has happened to me when I interviewed at Google a few years ago. The recruiter did get in touch a few weeks later and I ended up getting an offer.
This is very common when you interview for a pool position. Also know that it is in recruiter’s best interest that a team picks you- only then they can get their commission. But only thing is that your interview may have been for role specific so the feedback may been tailored to that so if they are now trying to fit you for a position from the pool then it’s likely that they may ask u to interview again- might not be full blown but may be 1 or 2.
When was your on site interview?
this one was mid december 2019
