Title says it. What finance role should I be looking for to maximize TC per hour worked? I would like to make a salary of $150k plus minimum. Looking for a change, tried learning how to code but that’ll take me a lifetime.

TC $200k/year

Look for pure finance biz partnering roles, and avoid FP&A.

@🍌 + 🥜 … at amazon fp&a is typically a financial consolidation role. You’re either corp fp&a managing the process flow from other finance departments to compile s-team docs and financial packages, or a sub fo&a team that consolidates inputs from other finance team and acts as a bridge to corp fp&a. I.e. digital fp&a would work with music, video and ads to ensure they are loading by deadlines, supplying commentary, goals, etc. They consolidate all of the granular details of these business and try to craft a higher level picture for corporate. Generally jn these roles your stakeholders are other finance orgs. Business partner finance typically owns forecasting for a particular product, initiative modeling, and various ad hoc projects. Its more ambiguous and stakeholders are typically marketing, engineering or generally not finance folks. At amazon i see a very clear line between these finance roles in most orgs. I think fp&a is cool because its a lot of big picture, senior leader exposure. BP finance is cool cause youre close to the business and more opportunity to impact the product/customers.

Try to stay away from or at least minimize anything that requires you to touch accounting and audit. I hate this aspect of finance. no added value with boring workload that lowers your IQ.

Is Amazon really that bad? Their boost to $350k cap on base is massive, not that many finance roles will see that bump.

100% dependent on the company rather than the role.

Finance manager at company A —> $100K TC and worked 60hr weeks

Now a Finance Manager at Google —> $450K TC and never above 40 hr work weeks

Work scope is really no different between the two companies.
