What about these non-fang companies?

Take 10 yoe senior dev role for example, whichone is a good option wlb and tc wise? HBO, Adobe, zillow, redfin, postmates, expedia. HBO is a competor for Netflix Adobe's market value worth 2 UBER. No one talks about these companies. Create this post to explore some opinions.

most engineers are risk-averse and would prefer to work at household brands that lead the market

At least right now (and historically) I don't see something like Adobe as being risky. I definitely understand avoiding risk as an engineer, though, and can see where going forward even something like Adobe can be a risk when Figma etc are on the rise.

Mind explaining why?

Poor leadership. Their toxic "head of engineering" left last year, so things might be different now.

Netflix is a competitor to HBO, but HBO is not a competitor to Netflix

T-Mobile yeeeeeeeet Aug 7, 2019

T-Mobile has great wlb. Really flexible on PTO and wfh and decent comp for the amount of work that you do.
