Buy low sell high needs alternative to stocks when rebalancing. But with interest rates/bond yields so low, even after rate hike, the conventional advice of bond stock split seems unattractive. Any other reasonably safe alternative investment with decent (8-10%) yield? PS I've tried peer to peer lending (lending club and peer street) but the returns were meh.
eREITs like fundrise.com?
do you have any first hand experience with these? most of the online reviews seem affiliate marketing. I'm worried about the lack of liquidity - redeeming the notes is at their discretion? what if they go bust
No experience, no affiliation. Just something I was thinking about.

So you want 8-10% return with low risk? Don't we all? All investors have to bear a given amount of risk in order to be adequately compensated for taking said risk. You can't just find an investment with high return and low risk without the broader market knowing about it, at which point they will swoop in and the risk-return relationship is normalized again.
yes I'm aware that there's no free lunch. I'm trying to get an understanding if there is any worthwhile alternative to diversify from buy and hold investing in the stock market (which has been great so far, but that's what makes me nervous)
Have you tried looking at a 3-fund portfolio or something similar? Spend a lot of time reading the Bogleheads forums. You will probably get some good ideas there.
Buy good quality dividend stocks, reinvest dividends and hold for the long term
Thanks. Would appreciate some recommendations
