For 3 YOE engineers who work at big name companies, not necessarily top ones but stuff like DELL, Capital One, JP Morgan, something like:
Low CoL: $80k
Mid CoL: $100k
High CoL: $140k
For engineers at top companies like FAANG, hot startups like Stripe, hedge funds like Citadel, all typically in high CoL? Most have hit L4 by this point. So $250k if not closer to $300k in SF/NYC
My advice is not to wait for 3 years, you'll get downleveled to new grad most likely unless you ace the interviews. Better to just join the tech space as soon as possible, at least TC wise.
