In terms of culture, up leveling skills, leadership opportunities, and mentorship. Less concerned about compensation but job security is important to me. Basically I want to be treated as a human and not a cog. #design #ui/ux #productdesign

This reads more like a laundry list of companies that you think have well-designed products rather than an informed opinion of what it’s actually like working there as a designer.

Also, if OP thought Spotify fell into this category, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t be asking this question.

Atlassians pretty great. Designers have a lot of influence, and they have a pretty refined process guided by things like the Atlassian Playbook, etc

Umm_ok if you find something let me know. We generally tend to hire mid/senior + level designers.

Also my experience has been very different from Pinterests.

I can’t speak for other companies but on the upleveling/leadership dimension, Amazon should score quite high. The scope available to an individual designer can be pretty massive. If you have the hunger and perform well, there’s the opportunity to do really impactful work. And comp has improved a lot - seniors can make up to 325k roughly in Seattle, possibly higher if you can negotiate an an exception with a competing offer.

That said Amazon is not great on other dimensions. WLB isn’t great, craft is not really prioritized, etc.

Amazon wants to do a lot with a little. There never seems to be enough resources to do what is being asked. So you can either put in extra hours, as many do, or you can learn to be really efficient with your time, but feel pretty drained by the end of the day. That’s how I see it anyway. I’m really protective of my hours - outside of a major upcoming launch or executive review, I’m not working more than 35-40 hours a week. But those hours are pretty intense, and I could easily work twice that amount if I let myself.

For me Spotify is great so far. How's your experience here? My previous companies didn't have this level of maturity in the design culture. I wanted to ask Spotify alum what their experience is like after Spotfiy.
