I got an email asking me to confirm if I'll be relocating to Redmond before my start date. I won't be relocating right away. Email also says that please note if employee is working at a home office there are tax implications for both Microsoft and the employee. What does that mean?

It probably means that youโ€™ll need to pay taxes to the state in which youโ€™re residing while you work. Your benefits/pay may also change slightly.

I think you have to relocate within 60 days of start date to avoid tax implications

Did you mention that you wonโ€™t be able to relocate before start date? Did they say that you can start remotely or will wait until you could relocate?

Yes I discussed with the hiring manager that I canโ€™t relocate right away. I should be able to start remotely. For some reason the hiring manager is not responding to the HR emails. Not sure what is going on there. My onboarding is stuck till he approves it in the system.
