What do you think of the Growth Mindset philosophy being promoted at Microsoft? (Please mention your ladder when responding- SWE, Sales, Engg management, .. so on) https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.businessinsider.com/microsoft-is-using-growth-mindset-to-power-management-strategy-2019-11 Here is a sample, which leaves me wondering about how it helps the company or its culture: “Our revised definition of the role of managers at Microsoft," Whittinghill said, “is to deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring."
This shit was like 2 connects ago, and I have no idea what growth mindset means still
Idk what msft preaches, but a growth mindset is basically looking at growth instead of results. For example, if I didn’t get an offer from a company, I could view that experience as a failure, or as an opportunity to identify where I’m weak & improve my interviewing skills.
Growth mindset is when you think intelligence comes from learning and practice. Fixed mindset attributes intelligence to innate quality which cannot be learned.
All complete BS . Microsoft at the top (VP/GM) are all type A Sharks. They closed the door behind them though and are lining the middle management ranks with diversity hires. Worst company to work for don’t bother
Well you nailed that.
Same thing found at Expedia. Pretty sure this is everywhere. Growth mindset/diverse hires/women in more leadership roles (last I agree to a certain degree) is a whole lot of horse shit to distract people from what’s really going on
Microsoft? Growth mindset? 🙄🙄🙄
It’s a gimmick. There are still highly toxic people over here, who have successfully derailed people’s careers. They all sound in agreement of growth mindset; some even convince you that it’s the best. But, at the end of the day, they will use/step over you in whatever way they please. So, just don’t read into this too much. (SWE)
Its pr and marketing thing. In reality it turns however your M1 decides its most favorable for him - surprise surprise.
Its definitely working. During my time at azure could definitely see a new kind of humble viguor. In class they would talk about how important culture was. Wish i paid more attention. Glad i can make an income statement instead though.
