Do you sell to realize the gains? But it May go even higher. Do you buy more? But that increases your average price, so in future if stock goes down, you May incur loss. Do you hold And wait for it to go down again? but Then you didn’t take advantage by selling And again buying at lower price. Also, then you invested less money that you can And have lots of liquid cash . What do you do, so confused.. I have been doing the 3rd thing but its not a good one. Buy low, sell high is impossible to implement. With markets so high at this time, how do you invest?
I have discovered a truly marvelous algorithm for this, which is sadly too large for a blind post.
Post it somewhere and share the link
It's a reference to one of the first recorded instances of trolling: https://www.google.com/search?q=i+have+a+truly+marvelous+proof+of+this+proposition
The approach you speak of is more like gambling. I make buy sell decisions based on knowledge of; the company, the industry, quarterly reports, market trends or news events. The above can be time consuming if it isn’t something you naturally follow or are knowledgeable on. Often better for the average person to invest in an index fund.
Yeah. I actually did some research some time back. The thing is all stocks are overpriced by 2x or 3x amount. If I wait for them to go down, I would be waiting for like 3 years maybe. I don’t know what to do.
Index fund
Follow Warren Buffet: be fearful when everyone is greedy, be greedy when everyone is fearful. Right now, one tweet from Trump, market shoots up 300 points. Average P/E is multiple times S&P 500 PE. Too much euphoria! If you have TSLA, Apple, FB, CMG, cash out. Wait for pullback.

I hold, only sell when I need money for another buy
Prune half and reinvest on a drop.
Put in an index fund and forget about it for the next 30 years silly.
I buy high and sell low
This is the wrong way to think about the market. The optimal buy/sell decision does not depend on the price at which you bought the stock. This mistake results from similar thinking to the sunk costs fallacy.
Optimal buy sell would be impossible for anyone to predict. What is the general way people trade though?
I mean the optimal decision to make given the information that you have, not the decision that will produce the optimal outcome. The latter is of course not possible.
