Let’s say they split all the shares 50/50. Wouldn’t McKenzie play a more active role as a shareholder with her new voting rights? How do investors feel about that? I’m not sure how much influence McKenzie has over how Amazon currently operates as Bezos’s wife but It seems like there could be a risk to stock prices because then the couple is no longer one unit and can do whatever they want to the company separately. Seems like it would be an empire divided? That can’t be good since it hasn’t played out well in the past for nation states... Edit: And even if Bezos retains majority of the shares...what if he marries that Sanchez woman and convinces him to make bad decisions? Doesn’t that sound risky, too? What do y’all think?
Amazon stock will be fine.
If she did have strong influence previously, it was good, so status quo. If she didn't and wants it now, it could turn out good, so great, or bad, în which case it will go thru the normal processes of a public company. She may do harm but there's a board and shareholders that eventually will do something. It may, partly, be irreversible. The LPS may, in a way, keep things in check. As for Sanchez, prbly not more of a risk than any other influence that may be around bezos
I'm sure being around each other longer is not a goal of theirs, they'll divvy up a healthy portion for her to go her own way and both start over again. That many billions I'd hope they can settle cleanly... Not like your toughing it with "only" half.
She will agree to a bunch of stipulations in divorce settlement. Voting rights and max liquidation rate. There is literally zero risk to Amazon shareholders. She has been on the ride since Day 1 (its always Day 1! hehe) and is way too smart to go around meddling or dumping stock she doesn't need to dump to shit on her own net worth and her kids inheritance value. Think it through. This is not some floozy who just married a rich guy. This is a fellow Princeton grad, one of the first employees of Amazon, and has massive vested interest in the company's success. And will end up with a small minority equity stake (8%). So chill out and relax.
Even with all of that, the simple fact is that the CEO of Amazon(Bezos) is no longer as incentivised to increase AMZN share price at 8% ownership as he was when he owned 16%.
Why? By and large, AMZN will still be the same percent of his net worth. I don't think anybody is saying that only owning 60B of Amazon stock isnt enough of an incentive to represent shareholder interests.
Sanchez leaked the texts.. she and bezos are done
