What do you think about Quora (the company)?

Curious as to what people (both non-employees and employees) think about Quora the company: - What do you think about the talent at Quora? - Is Quora somewhere you'd be interested in working at? Why or why not? - What's your perception on the company's future?

Their persistence in trying to force new users into signups, I think, can be rethought.

I know you mentioned the company itself, but just put this out there that always stuck with me when I think of quora as a product

Appreciate the input, thanks!

Not going anywhere but D'Angelo has enough money to keep it afloat indefinitely.

- Good - Nah, I don’t believe in the company. Technical challenges don’t seem as interesting. - Eh, not too excited

really appreciate that you touched on the different Qs

Quora assumes that there’s a universally best answer to any question, but half the time the answers are so culturally different from me as a US user that I almost can’t understand what they mean.

- Very smart engineers - Yeah, but the only reason I would want to work there is to learn from your talent and network. - I think the product is flawed in a way that prevents huge growth (it’s basically yahoo answers in a reddit / fb news feed format, with only somewhat higher quality answers so too much noise).

- Top tier up to 2015. - Nope. I don't see the mission or challenges as exciting. - It'll be around.

You seem to hate quora a lot, ive seen another response of yours where youve disapproved that quora has good tech talent. Did you work there earlier?

OpenDoor 83)#gwgqb Jul 21, 2019

Tech talent is still solid, just not insane like in the past. Like other opinions, you should take mine with a grain of salt. My impression is based on my interview experiences and conversations with friends that worked there and left around that time.

The platform content quality has really diluted with increase in the no. of users. I was a huge fan of the platform once and used it actively. But I no longer do it. Several questions I am interested in has really bad answers, and they still exist on the platform. I guess we can’t really do Much about it. But as a user what I expect from a platform like Quora is to get human insights in answers. A bunch of people just search in google and copy paste content. I know a lot of popular users got banned due to violating some policies. I guess you guys should revisit banning policies, I see several people are discontent with it, and in some cases it was Totally uncallled for. Quora could be like blinds’s alternate version rooftopslushie where you really seek answers from experts and in that sense people would be willing to even pay for the service. It could be Quora2.0 a premium version where the content quality is the king. Also, there are several duplicate questions and answers in Quora. Algorithmally probably more efforts should be directed in reducing the mess. I know the problems I highlight are really difficult to solve, but I hope Quora is able To solve it. I want to see it as a product that survives and improves. My perception regarding engineering quality is high. I have some close friends who work there and are really high calibre. Overall I am not too happy with the current state of the product. I would be interested in working at Quora, but mostly to learn from the talent around.

I'm sure there's good talent Maybe, but probably not since I don't respect the product Can't be too good. It's like yahoo answers but sometimes worse. The way questions and answers get edited is whack. A lot of content is spammy and so is the way quora tries to make you sign up

I've written hundreds of answers and used it since very soon after it launched. The community quality has gotten consistently worse, and questions have gotten worse. The partner program is the dumbest thing ever. The number of middle schoolers asking me their homework questions has shot up. I almost never see good questions anymore. As far as the company itself, I noticed some of my friends leaving, but I didn't ask why.
