Do you ever feel alienated if you are Black or Hispanic?
In my head Blind is just all disgruntled Indian and Chinese employees opposed to most diversity efforts
It's just a buzzword. Don't kid yourself. It's not really about diversity. If it were, they'd look for employees who are older, rural, religious...all the things they don't want in their companies.
I’m a female of mixed ethnicity. I can’t stand all the diversity nonsense. I feel like it lessens my accomplishments. I don’t need d&i nonsense as a crutch. When my accomplishments are recognized or I get promoted, I have to worry that my colleagues think it’s because of my sex/skin color. It’s bad enough you have to worry about people thinking you are a diversity hire. In my opinion, the d&i stuff is a just another form of soft bigotry via lowered expectations.
You're a deplorable who's pretending to not be a white boy who once crossed the street because a brown person in a hoodie looked your direction.
> says something that’s not in the mainstream acceptable thought/speech domain YOURE A DEPLORABLE WHOS ROLE PLAYING AS AS A WOMAN. I KNOW WOMEN, THEY ALL THINK THE SAME AND IT DOESNT FIT WHAT YOU SAID. NICE TRY WHITE BOY
i hate when people talk about diversity. like wtf?? everything should be based on merit and thats it!
^ This, thank you. 🙋🏽♀️
Yes, that's when equality would come.
I do think that there may be some truth to black and hispanic populations not feeling totally welcome. and negative bias against these groups. I support any efforts to try to create a welcoming space no matter the background. I’m so sick of racism and stereotypes. I didn’t realize that the US had a huge race issue until I went to the UK and I saw more of an absence of it. I’m telling you, the rest of the white Americans like me- we do have a race issue and it shows up in such subtle ways even at work. This makes me really sad and I feel powerless, I’m not sure how to meaningfully help the issue. I do appreciate that we are trying with the D&I efforts.
It doesn’t have a racism issue except that coming from the left. The creation of these diversity programs and quotas are what make us feel unwelcome and less than. It’s like the white liberals thinks we’re incapable of doing things on our or to the same degree as white employees without some special carve out or being held to lowered expectations. It’s truly insulting.
totally on board with you Akamai, I’m female and I do feel it’s insulting to change the bar, if this actually happens.
Amazon doesn’t appear to care at all about race/sexuality/religion/birthplace/whatever. It appears to be the only massive tech company that hired purely off of merit.
I see many diversity promotions and a push to hire (and retain) diversity candidates all the time at amazon. Several orgs have D&I initiatives.
I don’t doubt that orgs have it, but there’s company-wide initiative for it (like other large companies have).
ok
Group which has faced discrimination in history need help in order to assimilate with the society. D&i is one such effort. Is it the best way? Well that's subjective. If US government really wanted to help black community they can fund their education, try to reduce crime rates etc and work at grassroot level.
As a woman of color, I call BS on this. Sentiments like this diminish all the accomplishments we make on our own. This is just the soft bigotry of lowered expectations. As Candace Owens says, don’t be a victim, be a victor. Weak and ineffective individuals need a crutch... strong, intelligent people do not.
Yikes, imagine assuming the only way a specific race or gender can achieve equality is through physical governmental help. One race/gender is not as effective as others? That’s kind of messed up dude
It's not only in tech, it's a systemic social problem. Firstly, one has to understand that slavery existed and ppl are still facing its consequences. We cannot hide it under carpet, we need to collectively solve it. Affirmative action might not be best way. Anyways l will leave it at that.
What a load of BS. What are we solving, exactly?
There is no systemic problem. This is all an imagined BS construct created by bored white women (and the white beta males hoping to get lucky for once) who have nothing better to do.
doesn’t exist
