Especially interested in input from people who work there now. Is it a good place to start an engineering career?
Overworked, low pay, impending implosion. Overall, bad outlook.
Impending explosion? Wdy mean?
100 hour weeks, highest base at company is 145k till staff
They don't pay well and kids running the show
Iāll just copy what I said in a similar post a few days ago.... Low pay across the company at least in IC roles. Turnover has been very high on product and operations teams. Two senior PMs left last week and the week before. Through the summer there has been a string of at least 15-20 early key employees that left across the company. Someone here said kids run the show not really true, just very out of touch and in over their head middle aged management. Might be better if kids ran the show at least then they would understand the core demo better.
Hmm ok thanks for the insight
Lime eng is a good team to join, most people are very energetic and committed, product team is relatively weak due to recent churn and lack of leadership. Overall a good environment to work as an eng, you get to have a lot of voice on tasks you work on. IC PMs are great to work with too.
Lime engineering is a good team to join especially if your goal is to learn and grow your technical skills. Since it is a startup, you have to make your own judgement on how much the stock options are worth.
The good thing about eng at lime is your coworkers. Everything else is at best subpar. The pay is low, projects are becoming less interesting, execs are not investing as much resources into r&d in favor of branding and marketing, hardware team in China is out of touch with the rest of the world, product team is a revolving door, our leadership has no vision... I could go on. The team is good, but working here won't be that great imo
Engineering is fairly strong, although people complaining about "lack of recognition" don't realize the eng team is also somewhat junior. A lot of E3/E4s (although that has started to change over the last 6 months). So we may have lower average pay than the market but not when you consider leveling. Product operations is also strong. The product development team is weak, and has been a revolving door, but this is largely because operations runs the show. Engineering and product ops make a lot more decisions about the product than at other companies I've worked for.
Also nobody works 100 hours a week. Nobody even works 60. Anyone talking about working long hours is blowing smoke up your ass.
