What does Google & FB pay for Amazon PM-T
Currently L6 PM-T in Seattle, total comp $310K due to stock appreciation. Just over 2.5 yrs at Amazon developing internal features and tools that address developer pain points and engineering scalability/efficiency; kept scope ambiguous intentionally. Some ML work, setting up new infrastructure. Have a complex scope to solve for with a SDM peer with 7 SDEs (will need data scientists soon, but unsure whether there will be enough funding). Due to reorgs and manager departures, began reporting into a VP in a diff office. Previous to PMing, had 6 yrs in strategy consulting (at mbb and big4). Wondering what roles and BUs I can pursue at Google /FB (open to non-PM functions), and what comp/level range I can expect. Open to Seattle and SF Bay along with other companies that would comp better/competitively.
Imo with 15+ experience you should aim for L7 manager. Not sure if Amazon offers L6 manager of PMs $300k
I have heard of folks joining, crushing it, and speaking to HR about rotating in 2 months for role mismatch. I know of 2 folks. I have heard of former colleagues negotiating on scope and leveling (in directly) by way of negotiating comp. I personally have not heard of anyone that achieved level adjustment through comp negotiations though. Good luck!
