Hi! Non-finance background, 10+ YOE in non-technical roles, MBA. I’m interested in moving in to the Corporate Strategy/Corporate Debelopment field at a Series A or later. Looking to get a better feel for the day to day workflow and OKRs. Also any tips from people who made the transition are welcome.
There’s no real standard day-to-workflow for either corporate strategy or corporate development (I’ve worked in both). Corporate strategy oscillates between stepping into biz ops (general manager) roles and internal consulting projects. For corporate development, it’s longer timelines. You go between market sizing, opportunity research and identification, company/asset diligence, and any sort of post-closing activities.
Usually Series E or later ( public) companies have Corp Strat
What role would encompass the function at an earlier stage? Series A, B, C?
I’d say biz ops at earlier stage startups
