I’ve met quite a few people in this industry who appear to dislike their jobs, but they keep going. If this describes you, what drives you? The money? Your ego? The need for prestige?
Fat stacks.
I like my job and that’s what drives me. Is that really unbelievable?
And of course money is also a good driver as well
What drives me is just one step further life of my seniors who can dump shits on me. Not even dreaming to live like MDs which is too far but just one step lol
Responsibilities at a young age. Interesting work. Internal drive from upbringing. Money is decent. And societal status, or at least perceived, is high.
My job in itself is very interesting, I love the challenge and working in different projects. The money definitely helps but I think this comes second. Then prestige would be last for me. After university I wanted to go for the most prestigious job/company possible but this changed quickly once I actually started working and realised that it doesnt matter at all. You family close friends and most important people in your life dont care at all.

How prestigious is databricks?
Money and interesting engineering problems. I give 0 dammn about making an impact or making the world a better place. My ideal job would be writing C++ optimized libraries and getting paid for it. I dont want to intersct with users just solve problems and go home and get paid.
