I recently moved to a new team in Amazon. I feel I've had stress/issues all my life since I've always over performed . But I realized I've over performed in chill teams. In my current team, everything is expected asap and I barely get time to do bare minimum and sleep. My relationship is also not going well. I feel I'm either going to scream and lose it one day or I badly need an out. I'm on a work visa so I don't know the implications of taking a break. 1) my job will no longer be secure since manager could replace me citing the amount of work we have 2) I heard something about Trump introducing public charge clause where in if I use a public benefit , it could affect my citizenship process (decades away) 3) I could lose current work visa. Has anyone applied for medical leave on visa and found their job back when they came? Serious answers only please - not feeling that good.
Google FMLA. Your job is protected unless company was anyway planning to pay off people
Recruit to other teams/companies. Medical leave helps but won't solve much since it only gives you a few weeks to calm down a bit
Honey you work for a company that does needs robots. Just don’t scream and make it worse as you will go on PIP. Quietly look for another job and leave.
I would talk with your HRBP. They can help you out and keep things confidential
Doesn't HR exist to technically protect the employer?
Of course I wouldn't tell HR to be overwhelmed by the pace of the new team and the preference for chill teams. But when it comes to questions around medical leave (or any other type of leave) and immigration I believe they should be your first point of contact. They will know all the policies and advise you on your options. If you ask them to keep your questions confidential, I haven't met someone from HR who wouldn't honor it.
