What if Netflix doesn't actually hire senior people, but only people 5-7 years out of school, and the really high salaries are just people who joined in 2009 and have stuck with the company for ten years? So basically low turnover rather than actual high starting salary?

The engineering part would be only 10%, majority would be contractors, so the number of engineers reporting real salaries would be in the few dozen.
