What do I need to know to be a DevOps guy?
I see many recruiters ask for aws infrastructure before anything else
Actually devops is not what people usually make of it, it's not a set of skills in cloud, CI/CD, operations, etc. It's a philosophy, a mindset that blends the roles of software and operations engineer, you basically are a developer, operations eng, QA, you can cover any of these roles. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DevOps
That's the BS they tell developers so they can fire all the Ops and make Devs work as Ops
What VMware said. Very true. Having to do tons of ops work when all you want to do is write code is the worst
Ah, just saying what it should be, right? LOL! Agree with both of you BTW!
Looks like the hiring process kinda sucks at CACI...
It actually dose.
Devops is a mindset
Linux, Ansible, Terraform, Python, Jenkins, Kubernetes, AWS
Basically you need a mix of these backgrounds Software Developement System Administration Security Networking The mix is not the same for everyone, you maybe more tilted toward one more than the others, but you still need to know enough in these fields. Nowadays I think Containers and Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes... etc) are very important in this role.
