Like, what are his skills? Would he be able to survive in tech as swe/product if he decided to join? Adding Tesla/SpaceX tags, the below answers haven't yielded anything concrete.
I'd understand if you had asked this about Steve Jobs, but Elon? Seriously?
That's what I'm saying. He recommended that PayPal move to .Net. Which they didn't thankfully!
What is he not good at??
He’s better at being Elizabeth Holmes than Elizabeth Holmes
calling people pedophiles , firing people and offcourse staying married.
Public speaking
I think he is really good at doing multiple things together and staying focused in the face of uncertainties. Being able to do this 80 hours/week for years is commendable. Programming is one of the skills for making successful products. Hype(marketing) is a similar demanding skill.
He's good at reading books, tons of them. That's how he became the CTO of SpaceX
Didn’t he just buy them? He’s not doing any actual engineering
Visionary and leader.
But not fit for CEO imho. Should be chief innovation officer or something. Don't think he understands how companies are supposed to run
@serialPoop, you may be right, but whatever he is doing is working. If it wasn’t, he wouldn’t be such a legend, so maybe he’s not so wrong 🤷🏻♂️ idk, he may be unorthodox, but that’s not inherently bad.
Saying really, really dumb shit.

He’s a good engineer but definitely not good enough to be a SWE at Cisco
Unfortunately true. Cisco’s bar is quite high.
Nice..
