What is going in with USCIS?

There are people from Oct 2020 with current PD still waiting for EAD/AP as of now.

I filed for a visa extension more than a month ago, no receipt number yet. Lawyers say USCIS is extremely backlogged for everything, I’m not the only one.

Anyone got any rumors what’s going on inside there? It never was like this before.
