What is the best way to track your net worth?

May 2, 2021 23 Comments

How do you guys track your net worth? I want to track money in bank accounts, credit card balances, mortgage paid/unpaid amount, cash on hand, etc over time, but the app should be privacy safe, should not sell my data. Just excel myself on regular basis? #finance #personalfinance

Excel file. Track all accounts monthly in a table. And pivot chart it.

Can't upvote this enough. I tried using online services and they would sometimes work, etc. but never consistently or over the long haul.

I started this approach over 10 years ago and it completely changed the level of insight I had into my investments and net worth. Take 30 minutes every month to go and check your account balances across the board. If you aren't willing or interested in doing at least this every month then just give up now... you will never be financially free or literate.

Personal capital and mint. I can’t say if they’ll sell your data but they are pretty secure. Mint shows more ads, so they definitely use your data. Personal capital doesn’t have any ads. UI is pretty neat on mint. Personal capital has mediocre UI. I personally prefer personal capital over mint, it’s clean, no ads, does what it is intended for.

Last time I tried this app was on feb, 21 and it was not there and wrote a big email explaining the need of these and multiple features from a financial application.
From you comment it looks they must have added it. Have you checked if it's a soft delete or not?

As per their guidelines, they are deleting details permanently. I found another app which is better than INDMoney. OP can try Kuvera.
