Considering my offer, but curious what current employees think of the company outlook - things interviewers won’t answer candidly. Have you noticed any trend of talent leaving? My vague feeling based on anecdotal experience of using the app and talking to friends is that people are migrating over to Instagram. I only have a couple Snap stories to view now, but a ton on Instagram. Also, I don’t get the sense that Snap are doing enough to diversify their business, the way FB did with Instagram and WhatsApp. Especially given the lack of user investment into their personal content on the app, I don’t see what’s going to keep the business alive once the trend dies. (I.e. vs FB that hosts user images).
TC or GTFO
I use it to store my dick pics and keep them off my camera roll
I never believed in them till this week. The gender bender filter is possibly the greatest innovation of this decade. They should expect my application soon.
I’ve seen more Instagram posts of screenshots from the gender filter than snap stories with it. I do have more friends on Instagram though. Is a filter enough to revive a user base? Still doesn’t feel sticky at all
Innovation? Lol. The deep learning style transfer paper was first published in 2016. There are a number of startups that sell modified portraits, arficial voices and so on. Give me enough face images and GPU, will give you a working prototype in one weekend of hacking

Talent pool is increasing! But because of lay offs
How do you feel about the company’s outlook? Will it still be in business 10 years from now? Will stock tank in the next few years?
You’re asking hard hitting questions, and I won’t answer them. Work for snapchat if you don’t care the company tanks tomorrow but you want to grow or make an impact today. Otherwise, work somewhere safer
I interviewed and got an offer from Snap to work on Camera/computer vision related stuff. I really liked the team and the interview process. I think they are trying to diversify into camera, augmented reality (https://wersm.com/snapchats-landmarkers-feature-brings-famous-landmarks-to-life-in-ar/), etc but not sure how far they will succeed. But I do feel the work would have been interesting albeit with risks involved (more due to the stability of the company). On that note I will consider Uber, Lyft, etc to be risky bets too; Snap has gone through tough times for 2+ years and I feel they can survive at least some more years. Also consider the fact that Snap doesn’t have any cliff for RSU investing; so you can encash it right from the beginning.
Company has been improving internally over the past couple of years and product is making a come back. Still not a sure shot like FANG but there's at least room to grow
Snap is the only company I can think of that has the chance to go 2-3x in next 1-2 years. I’m very bullish and while I received offers from Google, FB, Uber, Airbnb, for similar TC, I still think this is the place to be. Impact. Growth. The others will still be there in a few years. YoE: 6 TC: 490k
To elaborate on the last point, I don’t get the sense that the app has much stickiness to retain users.
