What makes a fast career progression in your eyes? Have you or someone you know achieved it? How? I'm inclined to look at this as amount of responsibility rather than titles or TC (they tend to follow shortly), but to each their own benchmark I suppose. Don't know anyone personally who grew quickly at big companies, only via startups where projects ownership is do or die
Build trust in your management. Never commit to things unless you know you’ll deliver in time. Trust gives access to “stretch assignments”, which in turn puts people on the radar to promotions. Also, doing things that build additional value for the team/company/customers, on top of your “normal” job, will show people you are motivated for more. Never just “do your job”. Spend time thinking about the bigger picture.

1) your job has certain tasks and goals that needs to be completed. When senior mgt see you as one that always delivers, they’ll start asking you to do/help more, but on things that might not be 100% in your normal zone. Some people see that as “working for free / doing more for less” and those people will probably never get far. This is mgt looking to see if you are ready to “step up” 2) imagine you are in a virtual team of 5 people, working on a product/service/customer etc etc. Imagine if you started networking and sharing best practices with other teams, working on different areas, just to see if what they do could help you and your team. Or if you started reading parallel industry news, so see if trends and innovation coming there might be something that could help in your situation etc etc. And if course, anything that will help your peers become better. Be that person that ensures everyone in your surroundings become better. Just my two cents. There are probably reasons not to do anything I say, but hey ;)
Get a mentor who has been there for a while. Don’t just find a mentor, make sure you can connect on topics and you would truly benefit from their advice. If you do, that creates a ramp for success not only within company but in general for your career.
This ^^ 💯 percent. It all depends on who you know in the company. You could work your ass off and not have a single advocate for your success. You won’t get promoted as easily as the guy who is networking and building alliances.
You need to make sure you’re in a fast growing division and more specific team, and be a high performer. Make sure to have good work relationship with your management chain and make clear you want opportunities for high impact work. If you’re a high performer and group is growing 3 digits, you’ll grow super fast.
