Thinking of changing job if some other company can offer better compensation and career growth. Some options look like: AirBnB, Netflix, Uber, Square. L4 YOE: 2 years TC: 230K Edit (adding some more context): Work is good at Google and so is WLB. I have learnt a lot from the senior members in the teams. I can see myself getting promoted to L5 in 2 years timeframe. Some reasons I am considering switching: - Seems like I can get more ownership at a smaller company compared to Google. This could be better for the career long term. - Some of the unicorns are planning to IPO in the next 2 years. I might get a nice payout if they IPO at a higher valuation (or even the current valuation). Also, seems like potential upside might be higher (easier for a stock to go from 30B to 60B than 800B to 1.6T).
You can spend some more time in Google. For better career growth, consider changing team!
I think you can find better offers as L5.
Which companies might consider me for L5? I doubt Facebook will. Maybe Pinterest, Uber, AirBnB etc.?
Sorry, I meant after you are L5 at Google.
2 years won't land you E5 are FB. Kids these days lol.. 2 years is L4 everywhere

Lockheed Martin
Try Roku. You can get better comp if you are good.
The platform revenue seems quite good and growing at a good pace. Do you think the platform can continue growing independent of the hardware? Also curious what you think that the current valuations. Is it justifiable given the competition by other streaming platforms from Amazon and Google?
I’m not sure I have the answers you are looking for. The engineering organization is great. They are very picky, and everyone is given real responsibility. No placeholders or slackers. Compensation is great too, probably better than google. I wouldn’t get this kind of responsibility anywhere else, and I love it.
