Curious to hear real-life examples after reading this on Quora. https://www.quora.com/What-restrictions-do-investment-bankers-typically-have-when-trading-buying-stocks-for-their-personal-account Do insider trading rules apply only to the companies you are working with or a wider range of companies?
Spare the headach and just invest in ETFs
Don't policies differ for different companies. I know there are policies like requiring employees to use the bank's own brokerage service, having a holding period on any securities, and obviously compliance check on all trades...this is what I know!
I feel you don't understand what insider trading is. You should look that up. But everything in that link is true, it varies in strictness company by company. Some have complete ban on individual stocks, only letting you buy ETFs and mutual funds. Some you even need preclearance for those trades. My advice is to set up a managed account with a financial advisor
