What should I put in my resume as a contractor

So I’m employed by company A but I don’t do any work for them and I don’t even have an e-mail there. My entire work is for company B but on paper I’m contractor though A. Should I put company A or B in my resume? I don’t want to fail background check for silly mistake.

Ofcourse A, your actual employer not the client.

But what if A is just a small consultant while B is large bank, like JP Morgan?

You can mention that under details but you can't say that you're employed with them.

Put B and add A in brackets

Google (through XYZ) 2009-2018

It causes problems in resume parsing in recruiting tools.

Perhaps put the parent company in 2nd line.

you don't even have to specify XYZ employer. client (consultant). It does not matter who's the employer, who you work for. resume is a 2 page ad. put anything that will get you a interview.

List company B and then add “ (Completed Contract) next to your job title.

Should I put completed even though I’m still working at the same company?

No. In that case just put (contract)
