Hey guys -- looking to check out options in moving from finance / banking world to tech. I am based in SF Bay. wondering if someone can throw light in following - Sr Director Level Packages ( including -- base, bonus, stock, 401k ) in Product Management function at Visa - Manager level Packages (including -- base, bonus, stock, 401k ) at block chain / Fintech start ups ( SoFi etc. )
Director of what? What kinds of people did you manage?
Product road map. 2 direct reports. project goals is what would be owner off
what do FB VPs and Directors end up doing ?
Senior Director with 2 reports? Sounds like finance hands out director titles like candy. In tech a director actually means something, LinkedIn being the exception. How many years experience in management do you have? Your most likely looking at 1st level Manager roles, maybe level 2.
The level inflation in finance is insane. You're M1. "VP" in banks is at most "senior" in tech companies - but the technical experience is lower.
Banks inflate titles IMHO. More like St Manager at other tech companies. I'm sr Dir at established tech company. VP or SVP at most financial services company.
My TTC is north of $400k plus RSUs
appreciate your response. titles at banks v/s tech very different. structure more flat at Banks then tech IMHO
You have it backwards.
banks do no have manager I, II etc..as in Tech, as someone pointed out .one can quickly start reporting to SVP at an analyst level.
Ugh I'm sorry but bankers wanting to be PM's...sounds like the worst tech manager ever
