So my PM application at Amazon is moving forward and they want to know what my ask is. I’ve gotten some mixed info on what my role can fetch and I wanted to get some opinions. I was thinking of asking 200k base, 30k bonus, 40k rsu. Im currently a tech solution lead/ product manager. I have 1.5 years of dev work, 1.5 years of pm work at ibm. Currently a very underpaid band 7 even though management agreed I’m doing the work of a band 8. Currently I’ve built 1 full cloud product, with second product designed by me and fully funded by intel. Additionally, I assist another pm on client relation/sales of their product. #pm #productmanager #tc #compensation
😆 200k base? You probably won't even get that in tc
I know people who have moved from IBM to L6 PMT positions at AWS, though again this reminds me of that other questionable post -- "built a full cloud product" what does that even mean. You were the sole engineer for something that got a tile on IBM Cloud? Anyway 200K base is not a thing at AWS You can get 160K base Another 250K spread over two years as a bonus 100 RSU (measured in units, not value) over 4 years That's basically the L6 PMT offer that I got 6 months ago so maybe you can go a little higher now You should be able to get your total comp to 300K as a senior PMT at AWS
I mean I researched offering gaps, funded via external sources (intel), assisted architects in designing the technical solution, managed the full build process, created business collaterals, designed marketing roadmaps, created and published marketing collaterals, managed full GTM, do all corporate/legal filings, even assisted on sales/client relations on a separate project. What I’m concerned about is that this senior role is only looking for 3 YOE. Seems pretty odd to me. With the below comment that L6 was moved to $230 base, what do you think a good ask would be? I’m fairly new to this type of offer, ibm is my first job out of college and they jerked me around a lot on pay. Can you explain the difference between the bonus and rsu? I was assuming the bonus was for the move, as I’d have to move from Austin to Nashville and a one time event. Should I be requesting an additional bonus for the move? Are the 100 units equal to 100 shares of stock? Being at a rate of $3000 = $300,000 paid out 25 shares yearly, over 4 years?
With new bands in effect you could get ~ 230/330 for l5/l6 pmt in Seattle. It all depends on how you perform in interviews and your yoe.
Do you mean tc or base?
Corrected the levels. This is TC.
Any insight on base if I’m correct that it’s an l6 with a 330tc?

Depends on leveling within Amazon? Is it an L6 offer or L5?
I’m not seeing it on the job listing, but it’s a senior product manager role. For opstech in Nashville
Sr PM is L6, your ask seems fair
