Assuming: Tier 1 - Google, Facebook Tier 2 - LinkedIn, Uber, Lyft, Pinterest, Snap Tier 3 - Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, Apple Please correct if the tiering is incorrect. I know the no company is better or worse and work is more important. But perceived prestige is important from employability POV because higher the prestige, more the recruiters contacting you. The sole purpose is getting constantly contacted by recruiters
feels bad
Don't feel bad... These 3 tiers are way too granular. If we take top 100 tech companies, all these would be in tier 1. Here I'm talking like to 7-8 companies, so some has to go in tier 3
feels bad having the comfy googler tell me to not feel bad while I’m up working past midnight because of a deadline
🤔

Is Lyft hiring? Good time to join?
R u serious. Lyft and Unber would be thankful to not have big layoffs in the coming months.
“The sole purpose is getting constantly contacted by recruiters” I’m sure that’s the sole purpose
The sole purpose behind tiering. Why are you selecting words and leaving the context.
Maybe he's thinking about jumping to a lower tier company to lose some of those pesky recruiters
Lol. Smh is this for the blog too
What smh?
Boomer spotted
Why aren’t snap and lyft T1, and apple T2/T1?
Snap is a failing company, just because it's cool it doesn't make it T1. Lyft is not an established company, just because people have poured money into it, doesn't mean it's top. It might pay more though, and I'm not saying I wouldn't work for Lyft, but it's not T1. Same with Uber... You might think engineering is better at these companies, but they are just reinventing the wheel a lot of times (good training for engineers, but a waste of resources).
I see a lot of my past msft co-workers lulling themselves with ms being established, azure sealing a contract etc. which is what you should care as stock holder and does not translate as well to the value you get as an employee. They are totally missing what companies like snap, lyft, square etc. is offering; 2x-10x TC, say for an L5-L6, much greater learning and growth opportunities, exposure you can only dream of at enterprises like ms, cutting edge tech years ahead of enterprises and much better network. You can still buy enterprise stock but why are you closing your eyes and ears to these awesome opportunities?
The fact that this post came from a Googler proves that Google has fallen from tier 1 smh. Screw the tiers! It just shows your insecurity. Also TC or GTFO. And your TC is likely less than mine. How's that for tier 1.
You Sir are God and your TC must only be compared with some of the richest.
Dude, I think your mentality is completely wrong. I am no "God" for earning a higher TC. To be honest none of it matters. I just do and things just happen because I follow a process and don't really look at the outcome as much. I just don't care. Like my motivation to go to Snap was to live in LA and enjoy life and learn from the best. I don't care about prestige and if I have enough TC to live life, I'm happy. I used to be like you worrying about silly things like prestige. It's why I chose to go to an Ivy League for college. But it was an empty feeling, and I soon learned a severe lesson that nobody cares. Nobody. Cares. And the sooner you realize this, the more mature and free you become.
Real tiers: T0: Quant firms T1: FB, Netflix, Snap, Stripe T2: Google, Linkedin, Lyft, a few others T3: The rest.
If tier is TC, then fb goes to T2.
Stripe RSU is paper money so T2 at best.
goog is not same tier as fb anymore
Did corona virus damaged your brain cells instead of lungs?
Why
Op, he is saying because you have marked apple as tier3.
